View details

Hiring a kit to use at home means you can make a real family-and-friends day of turning your apples into delicious juice, preserving it for use over the rest of the year.

We have three 40 litre apple pressing kits available to hire along with one 90 litre kit for those of you with a larger volume of apples.

Each kit comprises:

  • A Speidel Fruit Mill — makes very short work of turning whole apples into pulp.
  • A Speidel Hydropress — available as a 40 litre or 90 litre press and requiring a suitable water supply.
  • 2 Pasteurisers — each holds 14 bottles of juice; additional pasteurisers may be available for larger quantities.
  • All the buckets and accessories needed for the process.

We provide full instructions, and our Apple Press Manager will make sure you are happy with the equipment before you take it away, with phone or email support available during the hire if required.

Terms and Conditions

Deposit Terms

All hirers will be required to pay a £50 returnable cash deposit in addition to the cost of the hire and any extras purchased.

Apple Press Deposit Terms

£50 Cash Deposit
(Applies to ALL Hires)

As a result of a number of breakages to various elements of the Apple Press Kits in the last few years, the majority of which have been covered by Brendon Orchards, and our growing membership it has been decided to implement a deposit scheme.

This means that ALL hirers will be required to pay a cash deposit of £50* (in an envelope with your name on it) at the time of collection.

Without this (in addition to your invoiced hire amount that you can still pay in advance by card or on collection) you will not be able to take your kit away.

On return of your kit, it will be inspected with you to check that it is:

  • Complete — we will provide a checklist to ensure no confusion
  • Clean — ready for the next hirer to use
  • There are no breakages

If there is any requirement for any cleaning of any part of the kit prior to being able to re-hire we will retain a non-negotiable £20.

Breakages will be recovered either in full, from the deposit or, if the cost exceeds the deposit amount, clause 8 of the equipment hire agreement will apply.

We very much hope that we will not need to retain any deposit money and will be able to return this in full when you return your kit.

*£50 represents a very small percentage of the actual cost of the full kit that you will be hiring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about our juicing kit? We’ve got answers to help you out.

What is included in the juicing kit?

Each kit comprises:

  • A Speidel Fruit Mill — this runs on electric and is like an oversized food liquidiser making very short work of turning your whole apples into pulp (no pre-cutting required).
  • A Speidel Hydropress — this requires a water supply with a tap that has a Hoselock connection — available as a 40 litre or 90 litre press.
  • 2 Pasteurisers — each holding 14 bottles of juice enabling it to be preserved for up to 2 years after pressing. Additional pasteurisers can be available if you have a large quantity of apples to process.

In addition we supply you with all the buckets and accessories meaning all you need to do is provide the apples, water, electric and people-power!

How do I book the juicing kit?

Follow the steps outlined above to book your hire — if you are unsure at any stage please drop us a message or WhatsApp and we’ll support you through the process.

Is there a delivery option available?

There is not normally a delivery option — if this is something you would require we would recommend you hire our pressing room to make the process easier for you.

Can I extend the rental period?

If for any reason you find you need to extend your hire, please contact Rupert to find out if there is availability for you to do this; assuming there is, it is not normally a problem.

What if I encounter issues with the kit?

If you have any problems with any of the equipment please call Rupert who will support you to find a solution.

How do I know how many bottles I might need?
Visual guide showing roughly how many apples fill one 40 litre press
Visual guide showing typical juice yield and approximate number of 750ml bottles from one 40 litre pressing
Can I re-use bottles?

Yes — reusing bottles is a great way to reduce waste, and it’s perfectly safe as long as they’re cleaned properly. We recommend using new lids each time to ensure a good seal and maintain hygiene, and we always keep spare lids in stock for when you need them.

What you’ll need

  • A long-handled bottle brush suitable for narrow-necked bottles
  • Sodium percarbonate (oxygen-based cleaner)
  • A bucket or tub
  • Hot, soapy water
  • New lids (available to buy from us)

How to clean your bottles

  1. Rinse immediately after emptying.
  2. Wash in hot, soapy water, using the brush to scrub the inside.
  3. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Mix a solution of warm water with 2 tbsp of sodium percarbonate per gallon.
  5. Soak the bottles for 1–2 hours.
  6. Rinse again to remove any residue.
  7. Dry upside down so they drain completely.
  8. Store the clean bottles somewhere dry and dust-free until you’re ready to use them.
