What cookies and browser storage do
Cookies are small pieces of information saved by your browser. Similar browser storage can remember choices too. We use necessary storage to provide the services you ask for, such as signing in, managing bookings and keeping your basket. Optional embedded services are controlled separately.
Necessary website functions
- Bookings and sign-in: WordPress authentication cookies keep signed-in users recognised. Our customer portal uses
boc_customer_session; without “stay signed in” the cookie lasts for the browser session and access expires after two hours. If you choose to stay signed in, access lasts up to 14 days. A booking-specificboc_booking_…cookie can retain access to that booking for one day. Signing out ends the relevant sign-in session. - Basket and checkout: WooCommerce uses cookies such as
woocommerce_cart_hash,woocommerce_items_in_cartandwp_woocommerce_session_…to keep your basket and checkout working. Basket indicator cookies normally last for your browser session; the WooCommerce session normally lasts up to two days. - Payments and security: our payment provider may use cookies or similar technology when payment services load, to process payment securely and prevent fraud. These are separate from optional marketing consent. Payment-provider storage and its duration depend on the payment method and provider.
- Your cookie choices:
bo_cookie_choices_v1in local browser storage remembers your optional-service choices for 180 days. You can change them sooner using Cookie settings.
Optional videos, calendars and maps
Instruction videos use YouTube. Embedded video support may also use Vimeo. The hire availability calendar and orchard map use Google. These services are blocked until you allow the relevant category in Cookie settings. Loading them shares connection information, including your IP address, with the provider, which may use its own cookies and browser storage. If you are signed into that provider, it may associate activity with your account.
You can allow videos separately from Google calendars and maps. Selecting Necessary only leaves both off. The hire calendar also has a Load availability calendar button after permission is given.
See Google’s cookie information (including YouTube) and Vimeo’s cookie information for their current practices.
Newsletters and tracking
Newsletter sign-up is optional and separate from cookie choices. Submitting the newsletter form sends the information you provide to Mailchimp to handle your request. Our optional Mailchimp connected-site tracking snippet is disabled, and WooCommerce visit-attribution tracking is disabled. We do not add you to the newsletter because you accept optional cookies.
Changing your choice
Use the Cookie settings button on the website to change your choices at any time. Turning a category off removes its embedded content and prevents further loading here. It does not erase cookies that Google, YouTube or another provider has already placed on its own domain; you can remove those through your browser’s cookie controls. You can also delete this site’s cookies and browser storage, although doing so may sign you out, clear your basket or make the website ask for your choice again.
External links take you to another website, whose own cookie choices and privacy information apply.
